At Sleep Coach MD, we care about your sleep. We take the time to understand your background and the different factors that influence how you are navigating your sleep journey, and develop a customized plan to support you as you take a more active role in improving your sleep health.

Whether you are dealing with insomnia, sleep apnea, fatigue, or shift work challenges, my goal is to help you rest better, feel better, and live better naturally and effectively without over-relying on medication. Dr. Amara Emenike

I used to work night shifts- where time dissolves, 3 a.m. meals come from vending machines, and everyone quietly pretends exhaustion is normal. It’s not. I was wired, depleted, irrationally emotional- and still expected to perform at a high level. My brain broke first. Then everything else followed.

So I did something slightly unhinged: I made sleep my life’s work. Not the “drink tea and dim the lights” version, the biologic version. The kind that explains why your brain glitches, your body resists, and your life feels harder than it should.

I fixed my sleep. Then I trained at the University of Michigan. Ran a major sleep center. Built programs inside broken systems. And then I walked away from doing sleep the “normal” way- because normal doesn’t work.

Now I work with people who look fine on the outside…but feel off on the inside. High performers, Parents, Professionals. The ones thinking: “I’m doing everything right. Why do I still feel like this?”

Here’s the answer: Sleep isn’t a habit. It’s infrastructure. When it’s unstable, everything suffers- focus, mood, weight, relationships, decisions… all of it. So we don’t optimize sleep, we rebuild it- precisely and clinically. In a way that actually holds up in real life. Because the goal isn’t perfect sleep. It’s a life that actually feels good to be awake in. And if yours feels like it’s glitching- you’re exactly who I built this for. Lets get started.
In a nutshell

Sleep Crises

1 in 3 U.S. adults (and even more adolescents) do not get enough sleep. This can affect their health and well-being. Sleep disorders like sleep apnea also negatively affect health and safety. Majority of people with sleep apnea are undiagnosed and consequently do not get the treatment they need.

Sleep Disorders

These include not getting enough sleep (sleep deprivation), poor sleep habits, and conditions like sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, excessive sleepiness (hypersomnia), abnormal behaviors during sleep (parasomnias including talking, walking, dream enactment), amongst others.

Health Consequences

People who are sleep-deprived are likely to have health problems like obesity, heart disease, stroke, dementia & cancer. They are also more likely to have problems at work/school & be involved in vehicle crashes. Lastly, sleep disorders can lead to difficulties with mood regulation, learning, & memory.
